The Weight of a Mass: A Tale of Faith
The Weight of a Mass: A Tale of Faith
This delightful picture book, beautifully illustrated by Katalin Szegedi, tells the story of a poor widow who teaches a town about what the Mass is really worth. On the day of the king's wedding, she enters the baker's shop to ask for bread, saying that she will offer a Mass for him because she has no money. When the baker scornfully writes the words 'one Mass' on a piece of paper and places it on his scales, the townspeople are amazed to find that the paper outweighs the entire contents of his shop. Changed, the townspeople go as one to the cathedral to celebrate the wedding of the king.
