The Praise of Glory - Blessed Elizabeth Of The Trinity
The Praise of Glory - Blessed Elizabeth Of The Trinity
Daughter of a French military officer, a stubborn child, whose selfish disposition was conquered by the fear of losing her mother's good-night kiss, Blessed Elizabeth Catez graced the cloister of the Carmel at Dijon from 1901-1906. As with her contemporary, St. Therese of Lisieux, this other "little flower" died young at the age of twenty-six. She, too, left an inexhaustible legacy of devotion through her inspiring memoirs and personal letters--a legacy she continues to bequeath in these inspired "Reminiscences." The wisdom that this seraphic nun communicated far beyond the confines of her own cloister is a translucent window into the merciful abyss of God's love for the human person.
A chosen "vessel of election," Elizabeth was given the name of the Holy Trinity for her consecrated life. In her writings, however, she referred to herself as "the Praise of Glory" (Ephesians 1:12) on account of her special gift of penetrating the sublime truths in the epistles of St. Paul. So abundantly fruitful was the life of God in her that she seemed to reflect in her every act the eternal processions of His Truth and Love.
